Foil insulation, new shed for Guinea pigs 😊

Hi everyone,

I’ve got my 6 x 4 shed all built now and was putting my foil insulation in today. I was unsure whether is should or shouldn’t be attached straight onto the shed walls or is there supposed to a gap between…I went with the first option. I have just attached it using staples but wondered if it needs the foil tape also?

Did you all use it on your shed floor too? I have Lino to put down, should I put foil underneath this too?

I stapled mine to the walls. I have also taped where necessary.

It also stapled and taped mine to the walls and ceiling, but I did not put it on the floor. However, the hutch and run is off the floor and the part where they sleep is also separately insulated.

The real challenge with an insulated shed is balancing the insulation vs the ventilation. We end up with a lot of those moisture traps (I think they are designed for caravans) in ours once the weather gets cold.
