I am cross posting this for someone else who is not a member of this forum but has given permission for it to be posted on other pig sites...
Any advice I will pass on...
I don't keep guinea pigs and only know there basic needs.
My sister has two and I'm the first to admit she's not an ideal owner.
so she's not exactly clued up on health issues.
anyway one of them today has started foaming at the mouth and isn't very well at all, a normal skitty guinea pig its very timid today.
Its been to ther vets they say they dont know whats wrong but its been given an injection of baytril and an anti-inflamitry (she didn't ask what) she's also been given oral baytrill but only 0.2 twice a day? this seems low as i give my 300g rats that!
the vets just said bring it back on thursday if its not any better....
its not been eating since last night and seems to be constipated and straining to poop
i've taken down my heat pad and lots of yummys (baby food kale greens pepper) also some readi grass but i think its mouths to swollen to eat
the vet says its not in its lungs or anything.
i've managed to source some critical care as only 1 vets out of 4 in a 15mile radius had it but when i told my sister its £12 i got the feeling she won't pay that for it.
i've also told her to mush up some of its pellets with hot water so it can eat them easily.
this is as much as i know and can think of so any guinea pig people please please give me some ideas? feel free to cross post to a guinea pig forum as I'm not a member and dont know any good ones
