I brought my Guinea pigs in for an annual checkup earlier. I noticed one of my pigs has been breathing a little weird lately so I brought it up. She hasn’t been sneezing, coughing, and no runny nose. The vet listened to her breathing and didn’t think it was an upper respiratory infection but was more concerned about her lungs/ heart. She took X-rays and she said she didn’t have a clear view or the heart. Almost like it was blurry. She thinks she either has fluid where it’s not supposed to be, or possibly a tumor. And that her belly looks a little big from swallowing air. She’s sending the X-rays to a specialist and I was sent home with some meds.
I just figured I would ask if anyone here had any ideas what it could be or if anyone has been through something similar. I’ll try to add the X-ray pics when I learn how lol

Sorry I have no experience of this but sending your piggie healing vibes and support to you.
A health expert should be along soon.

I am not an expert but some heart conditions can cause fluid to build up. One of my pigs was diagnosed with a heart condition about a year ago. She had no symptoms other than unexplained weight loss. Her breathing was normal and lungs sounded normal when listened to but on x-ray showed she had fluid in them. She has since been on furosemide (a diuretic) and benazapet which is an ACE inhibitor, so relaxes veins and arteries. She is doing very well.

It finally let me😅
