Hey everyone -

A while back we made a cage for our piggies, and made the floor with mesh so waste could fall through, but shortly after read that was terrible and could cause bumblefoot and really hurt them, so since then we’ve covered it with a thick plastic to make it a solid floor, but I want to make it even sturdier. I want to place down a wood floor, but I want something water-proof so their pee doesn’t rot the wood and hold the ammonia from their urine. What could I make the floor out of? I want it to be completely piggie safe, and make clean up easier on me, any help would be so appreciated! :D

Lots of people who have wooden hutches line the floor with lino which can be easily wiped down. Could you put the plastic you've got on the wood or put a corex liner over the wood like in a C & C cage.

I just recently put down an off cut of cheap Lino on the bottom of my hutches. It’s so much easier to clean them out now, I don’t know why it took me 20 years to figure this out!
Instead of now cleaning the wood and having to wait for it to dry before I can put the piggies back, I can just spray and wipe the lino dry.
I’m so impressed with the idea, definitely recommend
