Hi guys, I have a shed I'm intending to use for my guinea pigs. The floor is just wood at the moment but I'd like t cover it with something. Does anyone know where I could get really cheap Lino cut offs or an altertive I can buy (anyone use play mats or some other plastic/wipeable alternative flooring?)

Just looking for ideas or good sources.

Thanks

Freecycle sometimes have old flooring offered for free. Otherwise carpet sales rooms often have offcuts of vinyl that you can buy quite cheaply. A shower curtain is cheapish but not a long lasting solution.

The pound shop sometime do floor tiles, might be worth a gander. But failing that, as already mentioned, most hardware stores will have some sort of offcuts knocking about ;)

I have to say, I paid for our local carpet fitter to fit a lino floor to my shed . I asked for a quote and the price was reasonable .

Thanks guys I'll take a look around. I might try our local united carpets or B&Q and see if they have some cheap basic Lino.

I have lino in our rabbit shed. Ordered it from ebay.

Used to have those poundland tiles in a shed when I lived in Wales. Got quote damp in winter and they started to come unstuck at the corners.

I just have the basic wooden floor in mine. ;)

Do you cover the whole shed floor in bedding/substrate or just a corner section? The reason I'm thinking of covering the floor is the idea I'll just put sawdust in a litter box and also a hutch in the corner and then leave the rest with just plain flooring. I'm thinking I'd need an easy to clean flooring if I do this as there will be scent marking and the odd peeing outside their designated areas.

I have nothing on the floor apart from a mat in the corner with a food bowl and water bowl. The hutches have the chippings, hay and litter tray. I have to scoop all the chippings back in to the rabbit hutch several times a day as Mary likes to "rearrange" her fixtures and fittings, i.e. kick her chippings out onto the shed floor and heaven help who's behind her as they get covered! :))
