My piggie is very sadly still a single boy despite attempts at bonding. He is a happy little boy who gets absolutely spoiled by us. We both work at home so can give him all the love he needs.

I let him free roam in my spare bedroom where I let him zoom off the crazy but the rest of the time he has a duplex enclosure to himself which is a total of over 12 square feet.

Some nights I’ll get him out to play and he just isn’t bothered at all so I’ve started alternating days and he comes out maybe 4 or 5 night out of 7. Do you think this is sufficient? I don’t see the point doing it daily if he just isn’t bothered some nights. Plus he really goes mad the night after he’s had a rest night so I feel like he enjoys it more!

Updated pigture of the menace attached!

Thanks in advance!

My piggies live in my garage and they really enjoyed going back in the run today after about 10 days in the hutch as it's been too cold on the garage floor for them to have any time in the run (they are not directly on the concrete obviously, there is an offcut of lino, then a liner and fleece on top of that and lots and lots and more lots of hay). They are usually in the hutch overnight and in the run all day. Thea enjoyed the freedom of the run so much she didn't want to go back in the hutch. The other two were quite happy to go back to the hutch. Thea is a Diva and at 8 years old pretty much does what she likes when she likes and gets away with it too.

I had a lone boar too, he loved free roam time. As soon as he was let out of his cage, he'd go up to the fridge then stand on someone's foot expectantly waiting for them to give him veggies. 😂

Your piggy sounds like he also is enjoying the floor time. Hopefully you find the perfect friend for him that you've been looking for. 😊

As long as his cage is big enough on the bottom level (upper levels do not double or count towards the floor space) - that is at least 8 square feet, ideally 10 square feet, on the bottom level only then he has lots of room inside the cage for zoomies and physical activity.

Most enrichment and entertainment comes from mental stimulation within their cage. This means that floor time is great, and of course getting them a change of scenery and a move about is encouraged, but floor time is not the be all and end all for keeping them occupied.
Do whatever works best for you and for him!

Mine live in my shed in large cages meaning there isn’t the floor space available for additional play areas. They therefore only come out of their cages during the summer months when they can go into their lawn runs.
