Hi all!

Ive had my two piggies for 2.5 years and they just dont seem to like floor time, I have a big area for them to run around, I put towels down as the floor is tiled and they hide in their igloo and dont move. Ive tried putting food down too and nothing. They are very active in their cage but I feel they need a little more exercise.

Any other suggestions are very welcome!

Try adding in a few different igloos for them to run between.

Also, if it's in the middle of the room, move it against a wall so they don't feel so out in the open. Or drape a towel or something over the side if it's open grids. If they feel a bit more enclosed, and secure they might come out.

You could always put their bedding from their cage in there, it might make it smell more like home.

Also, what time of day do you give them floor time?
Guinea pigs tend to be most active at dawn and dusk so maybe try floor time around those times?
Tunnels they can run through are also a good idea.

Our floor space has a coffee table and bits of furniture/pig stuff for them to run under/hide behind, and it's carpeted. Could you possibly buy a rug of some sort? I've seen a lot of people on here suggest childrens stools for them to hide under :)

Like others I would suggest adding tunnels and places to hide. The other thing that our two love at floor time (and it has definitely got them coming out more) is a huge pile of hay. They have hay trays in their cage but having a big pile to play with and munch on seems to be a big hit.

Mine have an indoor run which is half covered by a fleece, the bottom is fleece and they have a tunnel, 2 cardboard boxes to hide in.. they were doing laps in there last night - so funny ! good luck x
