Hi All, I recently bought some grids that are actually apparently a storage unit from netto, like these: http://www.mayfairstationers.co.uk/images/GU52792.jpg
they were only about 12 pounds and there's loads of squares in the box so I want to use them to make an indoor run for my two piggies.
I acquired some old lino via freegle/freecycle with hopes of making a 'floor' for them as last year we had them on our utility floor and because they wee so much it was such a nightmare keeping the floor clean!
I wondered if anyone had any ideas for how to make a floor for them? I am concerned as they tend to wee in the corners and I don't want it firing out above the level of the floor! Perhaps it needs to have low sides on like a tray?
Not sure but the weather is well and truly turning here so they can't be outside for much longer I don't think.

Thanks

Saz

you could use towels or fleece on the lino and peg it up the sides a bit. i personally dont bother and just pick up the poo's on cleaning days :)

it's not the poo I'm worried about really it's the wee! As we now live in a house with laminate floors (yuck) I am concerned it will damage the floor long-term and as a renter I can't risk it.
I'm not keen on using towels and fleece because they just go to the toilet all over the place and I'm sure it would stink the place out. Plus they are incredibly hairy and everything I own is already covered with white hairs even after washing, if I had to wash fabrics they'd been sitting on all day in the same washing machine I use for our clothes etc everything would just be absolutely caked in them!

you could try newspaper? this would absorb some of the wee?

or you could buy some correx to make a base.

I use a shower curtain and a sheet in my run, works pretty well, I too have wees all over the show!
xx

I have used lino to line my C&C cage, It goes about 7 inches up the sides and it sort of overlaps in the corners? i dont know if that makes any sense! but i find this holds the wee fine as long as theres something like newspaper down to absorb it. :)

( i dont want you to feel like I'm harassing, just want to add my bit, I found fleece and towels smell LESS that the sawdust i was using. :) My mom lets me wash them in the machine and our clothes never smell any different. I just give the machine a little wipe round with a cloth after ive used to and we dont have problems with hair. *to be fair I'm not sure we would notice much as we have a dog that sheds and are forever cleaning the floors of hair! 3 times a week!* :P)

I use these sheets for old people (or toddlers) that you lay on their bed that catch their wee. They work so fantastic and my fleece doesn't smell at all. It's also completely dry so you can pick it up and have no problem with wet hands.

hi

i use a car seat cover that are meant for dogs an put the c+c on there, works well empty it off over bim then wipe it clean

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!
I'm not sure the lino I have will be big enough to make a tray that goes a way up the sides actually, I'd have to test it! I do have an old shower curtain which I could try too.
Just need something that's as easy as possible to make my life easier and ensure they get enough run around time!
