hey! sorry for being inactive on here for a really long time. Ron, Rocket & Rolo are still strong and healthy and are doing well haha. Okay so, to the question..
it’s been very hot recently & we’ve had the windows open & fans on so that the piggies don’t get too hot. The only problem is that we’ve had a lot of flies in & obviously, the flies are attracted to the cage. They aren’t laying eggs & I’ve been checking their bums and everything for fly strike & they’re all good. However, they’re just flying around the room & as it’s a bedroom, it’s rather annoying. I’ve been cleaning them out every three days and spot cleaning twice a day in the summer months to stop them from getting smelly & attracting more insects etc. Do you have any tips on how I can get them out?
Thank you xoxo

We have put fly curtains up everywhere and have been treating every 3 months with rear-guard just in case!

well, I got some fly strike spray for in the cage and have just been spraying the individual flies with it as we’ve been seeing them. I didn’t expect it to work but it did & it worked pretty quickly too. We’ve ordered some fly curtains and they should be coming soon! Thank you for your help xx

We have gone for a double action, deluxe version, red electric tennis racquet. You press the button, until live then sizzle the flys. It does involve lots of running around & swearing. So it gets the flys & I end up with a slender figure. :yikes:
Next year I may go for the curtains. Though!

I have been using the hanging fly paper as well as the sizzling tennis racket.

Like @sport_billy I have bought fly curtains from Amazon. Rather than covering the windows I have them draped to cover the entire cage. They don't block any light and I just fix them with clothes pegs...works very well and the flies have no access to the piggies :)
