Hi.
We have house guineapigs but I find I have to hover hay and wood chips constantly. Thinking of going over to fleece but don't they live constantly in wet bedding? I change their bedding alternate days at present, happy to go to daily if that is needed but really worried as never used fleece before. Could anyone give me some advice?

Vet bed is even better then fleece as it stays dry but fleece is fine too. You need to use two layers with an absorbent layer like towels and wash it all every three days at 60 degrees without fabric conditioner. You will need to remove poops at least twice a day. Before using fleece you prepare it by washing it three times without fabric conditioner. This removes the layer on it and will ensure it wicks away urine.

I could not get on with fleece, but, from what I have gathered, buy anti-pill fleece, put 3 layers of towels down, and use puppy pads under that.

I find back 2 nature better, it trends not to fly about too much. I use fleece liners for their pods, which I change daily. Put hay in a hay bag, cuts down on hay waste.

I haven't tried other types of bedding to be honest but I do like fleece. It doesn't stay wet as fleece wicks away moisture (if you prepare it first as piggyfan said). however you will need to spot clean for poops about twice a day - there is nowhere for the poo to hide as with other bedding!

I have my girls on fleece and they have litter trays. The layers I have are incontinence pads then main fleece then under their hideys I have towel then fleece. The smaller bits of towel and fleece get changed when the towels are damp and the fleece is always dry. Have newspaper then finacard then hay in their litter trays
