hi there
i currently use woodshavings for my piggies but have heard people talking about fleece in the cage?
is fleece the better option?
i currently clean my piggies out every 4th day
i have seen people put a towel underneath then the fleece on top?
mine are kept in a cage indoors and come out every day in a run in the house for a few hours or outside if it's fine & the grass is dry
any advice please
many thanks

I don't think there is a 'better option' it's just what works for you. Maybe try out the fleece and see what you think? Mine are on fleece and I got them quite cheap (they were from Asda or Tesco and only a couple of quid) so it wouldn't be a huge waste of money if you decided to go back to shavings.

You have to be willing to share your washing machine with hair and hay :))

I think i will try fleece. i have hair in my machine now from the fleece blanket i put down when they are out in the run in the house so I'm used to it :)
Thank you
x

If you dont like fleece then there are other bedding options and I suggest you look in the housing section at the bedding reviews thread and read those :-)
Megazorb about 8 a bag and works out at 1.20 a week for a 4x2 cage
Finacard 13 a bag and works out at 65p a week for same cage
Fleece with one cage and one was per week is about 60p for lec and washing liquid etc
Shavings 7 for 20kg work out about 30p but need cleaning out 2x a week so same price as finacard
Aubiose same as megazorb only cheaper and I havent worked out exact costings for that though.

and then there is vet bed that I love for the winter as it keeps piggies warm :-)

Where do i get vet bed from & what does it look like?
I've seen eco bedding? is that any good? I'm off to the vets this afternoon with one of them with a suspected uti :( so I'm thinking maybe i should change from woodshavings for that reason ?x
