Hello,

We are hoping to get a pair of piggies in the next week or two.

I have read about fleece and it seems like a really good idea. I've prepared the cage with newspaper on the bottom, puppy pads on top and then the fleece - do you think this will work? I've also washed the fleece 3 times with detergent only.

Would it be better to have towels underneath or is it more trial and error to see what works?

I used to use towels underneath my fleece and recently switched to using puppy pads instead. So far they seem to be doing the job very well and are very absorbant too.

i have what they call cage liners which is fleece and a matteress topper sewn together the matteress topper is very very absorbant i left it 7 days and there was no smell and when i took it up the newspaper i put underneath just in case was bone dry not a bit wet at all i think there brilliant :))

I use towels, then puppy pads then fleece :)

I too find that the puppy pads soak up everything really well so anything underneath them is just incase anything gets down the sides and for extra warmth really :)

Try newspaper and see what you think :) It'll save you on washing towels too!

p.s. good luck with your new piggies!

Ooooo thank you everyone. I think fleece is the way to go! I can't wait for our new arrivals! :D So exciting!

Do the people who use puppy pads use the reusable ones? and if so where did you buy them from?
Using towels, newspaper and fleece is driving me mad, they seem to always be a bit damp.
