Fleece

depending how big a piece you want almost anywhere, i got a fleece pet blanket from the pound shop!

I've got Nero 4s so I just use a single sized fleece folded lengthways and tucked under at the ends. I got them from Ikea and I 'think' they were £1.59 when I got them about 6 months (if not longer) ago. I'm still on my first set of four (wash one, use one) and although they're not baby blue any more, they're still OK!

I've bought fleece from ebay, the pet blankets from the £shop & most recently Pet Blankets from B & M & Asda's Smart Price Fleeces

I got some fleece blankets

Ok, so i got some fleece blankets from QS and I'm gong to put it in eli's cage tonight.
I just need a bit of advice as I'm used to wood shavings.
I clean my 3 out every 3 days but with fleece would it be ok to wash it every other day as i have 2 for him so as I'm washing one i can use the other one for him.
Do i panic if he tries to eat it?
I will be changing mine over to fleece but i dont want it to harm them so if any one could give me advice i would be very grateful.
Also what can you put under the fleece?

Thank you, Louise xxxxx

Hello. Don't panic if they try to eat it - fleece is made from pastic bottles and is totally harmless to their digestions. It also is made from fibres that don't clag together when wet - if you scuffed off some loose fibres, wet them and squeezed them together they won't form a 'plug'. So, when eaten, fleece doesn't cause a choking hazard.

You do get obvious poo buildup on them as it is the top layer that catches all the poos. Clearing the poos away is fine, they dry out and are easy to pick up.

I change my fleece every two days, covering it with a layer of cotton sheeting that's easy to change more often if one of my piggies has any kind of problem, eg softer poos from antibiotics.

Under the fleece I have newspaper which soaks up the wee. Fleece doesn't soak up fluid so it will seep down to the newspaper and get caught in there. You could compost the newspaper or throw it out.

I used to use woodshavings, then newspaper on top of cat litter (wood based) but since joining this forum I have moved to fleece. I honestly think my girls prefer it, they like lounging about on soft fleece, and I haven't had any troubles with smell which I thought I might.

Hope this all helps, Sarah

I have some fleece throws from Primark which stand up well to washing, I think they are similar to the ones from B&M

I also have some of the smaller pet pieces from poundland for snuggling in, they have been much happier since i moved over and are often found just lounging out in middle of cage.

Word of warning if you have pigs who have alot of hair (esp if it comes out) hair and fleece like each other alot and by hand just wont come off,so i have a hand held vac with a pet tool and just give it a run over before i put it in machine, stop it getting clogged with hair and hay

l got 2 fleece throws from primark too both £2 each, they wash well and work great!

I haven't tried fleece yet, am still using good old shredded paper and hay.

Just wondered how thick you have the fleece? i.e. how many times you fold it up? I take it you have more than one layer?
