So I'm tired of using fleece. Its the washing it. Then drying it. Then it just staying soaking wet when its been peed on.

Anything else i can use thats not too expensive. I'm tempted to use newspaper lining and woodshavings, but i have heard mixed views on ìt. Both of my pigs had uri's as pups. So not sure about it.

Ive tried every way of prepping fleece and using different types. I'm tired of it

I just use fleece in one area (loft) and that works well. Then I use Aubiose and newspapers in the other areas.
The issue with disposable bedding is you have to get rid of it. I end up with sack fulls that won’t fit in my bin and then I have to drive to the tip. I think each bedding type has pros and cons.

We have 1 area with Vetfleece and a washable puppy mat underneath, 1 area with Kaytee clean and cosy recycled paper bedding, and 1 area with lots of hay on newspaper. Vetfleece is a bit of a pain to wash but it stays clean and dry for 3-4 days in the cage, then we brush it with a rubber horse comb to get rid of hair and hay before washing. If you have none-fleece areas too I find the piggies respect the fleecy area a bit more and keep it cleaner?

I didn't get on with fleece and I use aubiose too and have raised areas with fleece on top - they love having somewhere to lay, perch up and view their world.

I use fleece with puppy pads underneath, but when I got my first guinea pig I used paper bedding. It works well, but it can get expensive and messy.

I’ve tried every type of bedding imaginable! Well probably not but we’ve tried a few! Finally settled with puppy pads on base and vet fleece on top. I find it washes really well and the puppy pads absorb all the wee. I change puppy pads every day and switch vet fleece twice a week.

What is this aubiose? At the moment i have fleece and have to layer meadow hay on top, so that they are not walking or sitting on damp pee ridden surfaces.scared of a uti happening. Which i think did with my sow dot. Are woodshavings bad?

Huge thanks to everyones input

Luckily my neighbour over ordered on wheelir bins and i have 3 to use. He made a deal with me. I put the bins out every other week and he lets me use them

I tried auboise for a few weeks.... it’s hemp based I believe and used for horses and other animals. It is really absorbent but it’s iust messy. My boys do zoomies all the time and popcorn all over and my floor was covered in it. Also, they tried to eat it which I wasn’t entirely happy with.

Ok yea i can imagine the mess.

Like everybody I have also tried loads of different things.
I now use finacard with hay on top. I get both from my local farm shop. £8 for 15kg bale of hay and £10 for a compressed bale of finacard - couldn’t say how much it weighs I can’t lift it but I’m guessing Its looking like a three month supply.
I have put a piggie sized piece of fleece in one area now it’s getting cooler and they seem to enjoy it.
I would avoid wood shavings.

I use Finacard and hay too with Poundland puppy pads underneath. Long haired piggies love it. I order bales from Finacard website.

I will be changing to fleece soon , but I am currently using wood shavings and they’ve have been very good, the cage always looks clean and clean out time is super easy. I am changing to fleece as I am taking Bella indoors instead of out soon and I didn’t want bits of woods having everywhere

I use fleece cage liners in the bed area of the cage and hemparade from zooplus in the litter/hay trays. I feed them in the hay trays.
