I haven't had the piggies for long but I discovered that they run about like little lunatics and were skidding about on a substrate floor! So I have changed to fleece which I have to say is a fab idea and piggies seem to like it. I foolishly had this idea that they would only poo and wee where they eat and drink, rather than just everywhere... :...:)) I have quickly realised litter training is an unlikely prospect, but I am still loving fleece for it's ease of cleaning and easier for them to run about on so I have been spot cleaning all the poops about two or three times a day and washing the fleece once a week and swapping liners.

how do other fleece users manage and how often would you say you spot clean? Or is there some magical way of litter training I have not heard about? :))

I do it exactly the same as you - have a quick tidy up around 2 -3 times a day and a full clean once a week.

If you do find a miracle way of litter training the little fluffy's i'd love to know lol

I collect poops three times a day and then change everything every three days.

I poop patrol 1-2 times daily and change everything twice weekly.

Hi,

I have a trio and a pair and i "poop scoop" (as my kids call it) twice a day and change the fleeces every 3 days.

I heard that piggies can do 150 poops a day but i have never actually counted them!

I have also made up small fleeces sewn over mattress toppers. I make them about A4 size and put them in the areas where the pigs poop and pee the most (ie under the igloos and by the hay box). Then i can just replace them daily, without having to change the whole fleece.

Have fleece on two tiered hutch, I herd the pigs on to one level then pull out the fleece and shake the poo/food/hay into the bin. Herd them back to that level and do the same! I do this once a day. I have a loo tray, a forage box and a house filled with hay which has the majority of poo in. These get emptied n refilled every other day. All of it gets washed every 5 or 6 days!

I was using the vac to spot clean daily, but since putting two litter trays in their favourite corners I can get away with every other day, sometimes every third day. I just change the top litter tray every day or so, because they just abuse that one!

I poop scoop twice a day at feeding times.... which is really silly cos they poop while they eat mallethead

I also fully clean twice a week...

spot clean once a day

change the boys pen completely every 4 days without fail

change the herd once a week without fail

change the litter trays every 3 days (this is the max time depending on how messy they have made it, can be every other day for the boys). I have pigs that for some strange reason like to sleep in the litter trays, they do poop and wee in them as well while they eat the hay, some of the trays are not under food but most have a water bottle (which drip) or are where a lot of traffic goes (like at the bottom of the herds ramp), or under the hay rack.

I still have to spot clean as they do poop every where, but the herd seems a little tidyer than the boys and do actually seek out the trays to wee in, or sometimes the lounger beds rolleyes which are just as easy to clean or change.

I spot clean with a dust pan and brush, its as important for the boys to sweep up as much hair as it is hay and litter tray bedding, the herd its more about picking up the food bits and poop

I use vet bed and hoover poops with hand held 3-4 times per day :)
