I am still relatively new to using fleece despite having owned Guineas for quite some years. Previously I had used wood shavings 😭😭 and when I switched to fleece my Guineas were in divided cages (as they used to fight), so it was only one piggy on each fleece bedding.

Anyway, now I have Willow, and her and Honey are getting on great in the 2x4 c&c, I'm finding the fleece is staying damp, my current bedding is: puppy training pads, towel, and then fleece on top.

I spot clean the cage 2x daily, and change the whole lot out as and when I feel it's needed (used to be weekly but now I'm trialling when it's needed with two piggys in one cage).

Today, just day 3 since change over, the fleece is relatively damp :(

Basically I'm just looking for advise/tips on what other people use, because I don't want my pigs sitting on wet fleece, would I need maybe two towels? Or should I be using a different middle material?

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you :)

@dannif_piggies How many times did you wash it before using it? Fleece tends to need around 4 washes before it wicks properly.

I also use either smaller pieces of fleece, or squares of Vetbed in the areas where they like to pee alot

it was washed 3 times, and checked before using as bedding, it is also older fleece, my lone piggy was using it before Willow came along and it was working fine then. Thank you for the suggestions! I'll give them a go 😊

Do you put the vet bed on top or underneathe the fleece?

@dannif_piggies I tend to put it on top of the fleece, but you can use it instead of fleece if you prefer. I find it too much of a faff trying to mix and match so I put down a fleece and then small bits of VetBed where they lie down and pee most.

@Jaycey okay brilliant, thank you, I'll have a look, just made some basic pee pads for the time being, had to do it by hand as I don't have a sewing machine, but they'll do the job for the time being. Thanks for the advice 😊
