I have just changed to fleece and towels and did a bit of research on what works best and I wanted to share some info with you from when I used to make my own cloth nappies for my human babies!
The best towelling to use is bamboo toweling as it is farm more absorbant than terry towelling and is anti bacterial. It takes longer to dry due to its absorbancy but I didn't find this too much of a proble. You can also use hemp terry, this is less bulky and even more absorbant than bamboo (ansd more expensive).
You can also use micro terry which is microfibre. It is very fast drying and also very absorbant but can be bulky.
For a water proof base you can buy something called PUL (can't rememeber full name), this is breathable but water tight.
I quickly made a fleece and towel bedspread to line my hutches, 2 layers of toweling sewn around the edges with fleece top and bottom. If I like it then I think I will go for the fleece with bamboo and sanwich it together to make a kind of duvet.
It reminded me of my nappy making days!
hope this is helpful
You can buy this stuff from a well known auction site or google it.
