I have been getting on well with fleece since i got my piggies nearly a month ago now. All washing fine, i found that putting in the vinegar with the wash gets rid of any smells on the fleece. But after washing my latest fleece, its a baby blue colour, there is still a big patch of pee stains on it. What can i use to get rid of the stain?

I also switched to a small animal litter pellet type thing for their litter tray, it is sooo much easier than the wood chips as they don't get stuck all over the fleece! its heaven. But it is much more expensive and for it to be worth using - money wise - a bag has to last 4 months and it really is not going to which makes me sad as my boyfriend will only stick to the cheapest things.
The wood chips are like £2 a bag which lasted 2 weeks and these pellets are £8, i have had it a week now but the bag is going down fast.. the girls seem to pee a lot in their tray so i have to get out the dissolved pellets - they go to mush when wet. It's usually one whole half of the tray i have to change daily.

Anyway my question was for fleece but i am rambling about how i like the new litter :)

Try adding napisan to the wash. As for litter tray, try megazorb or fitch.

I agree - try fitch - you get loads for your money - a 20kg bag is £15. I do my whole, large hutch in it (until I move to fleece this week) and it lasts 5 weeks. If you are only doing a litter tray it will last for ages.

This is going to sound silly but where do you put the vinegar in the wash - do you just pour it on the fleece when you put it in the drum? How much vinegar do you use and does it matter if it is white or malt?

With fitch i dont think they even post to Sweden. it says postage to NI is 26 quid so i think it will be much more to me! :(

And with the vinegar i put it in the softener part of the machine where you put that in, i think i read somewhere to do it there. I use this white vinegar that is the strongest you can get, you cannot eat it from the bottle its harmful it has to be diluted - so i put in like a tablespoon full or up to 2 tablespoons depending on how much fleece is going in and how smelly they are. and i don't think it matters whether it is malt but we can't get that in sweden (which is crap as i can't have some good old chips with salt and vinegar!) also use vinegar/water mix to clean the bottom of the cage under the fleece it works wonders with smell.

Does everything not end up smelling of vinegar?

Such a shame about you not being able to get the fitch. I have experience of anything else other than wood shavings so cant suggest an alternative.

No it doesn't, i wondered myself when i first tried it! there might be a slight smell left when i first get them out wet but once dried they smell fine! the only thing is on my new fleece this stain but i can try something for that.

Yeah it is annoying, its not as easy to find stuff over here. I can ask on some swedish forums i guess, but its so expensive out here too
