Going to buy new fleece for the new cages we're building. Noticed on the last ones that the fleece tends to shrink...so we need to know how much longer to get it cut to avoid any shrinking too much? Need it in inches, :)) silly Americans, I know! :p

I'm wondering if 2 inches is enough, or needs to be more....

I have no idea....my mom does mine and the piggie's laundry :red as I do not have a washer or dryer at my house. Everything I have read says to expect shrinking, but I haven't seen how much extra to get.

hmmm well i wash mine on 40 degrees celcius on a gentle wash and then dry in the shade,
i also add around 3 inch's each side just in case, you cant see it in my pics because i fold it under lol

Her washer has Hot, Hot-Warm, Warm, Warm-Cool, and Cool :)) soooooooo yeah.

I think we'll go 3 inches minimum on each side. I think we only went 2 last time and they're beginning to get a little short on the sides.

Can't wait to get the boys some MANLY fleece! :))

Can't wait! Got their 3X3 C&C built and they're in it on newspaper now for one more night and then baths for both and fleece tomorrow! I cannot express how much of a mess they are....in a matter of hours they poo up a storm, wee on it and then trample through it. rolleyes Hopefully the fleece will help, because the constant cleaning is wearing me out! :))

hahahaha fleece help lol, unless they are great at going in the litte fleece can be a royal pain,I'm lucky Zanzabar,Baker,Baz & Ralph all use a litter but Smokey and Bandit refuse to and there cage needs twice daily spot cleans:p,anyways I'm off have to get to the fruit and veg market as the piggies are running low, talk soon x

I think they're still in the "bonding phase" so they keep trying to prove their manliness to each other. rolleyes They do use the litter but they also go everywhere else! :))

I'm off to bed! Gotta get up in a few hours to get the fleece! Talk to you later! :)p

My fleece only shrinks if it goes in the tumble dryer. I had to run it through the dryer a few weeks back and was cursing myself for days as one set shrunk far too small to fit the cages any more!

I have an excess of at least 3 inches on each side, and I don't tumble dry the fleece. I wash on 30 degrees (I think this counts as a Warm-Cool cycle) with only detergent.

I usually have to fold the edges over when I fit the fleece in the cage but I'd rather have fleece that is a bit too big, than a bit too little. :))

We ended up getting 5 inches all around! :)) Might be a little excessive but should allow room for shrinking! :))
