Fleece question time :D. What fleece does everyone use and how do you find it? For the past year I've used the cheap ones you can get from Tesco and these have lasted quite well and have done a good job (latest lots have lasted 4 months so far) but I'm now in two minds whether to continue buying cheaper ones or go with more expensive fleece (dunelm is the one I think I've heard?). I think I prefer replacing the fleece every 4/5 month ish just because I like having new fleece and think it's quite nice having it freshened up every couple of months. So has anyone noticed a difference, outside of how long it lasts, between cheap fleece or more expensive fleece? And how has anyone found the primark/ pound shop fleece?

:(|) sorry felt like I'd treat the piggies to new fleece but wanted to make sure I'm going for the best option.

Ewww thought I'd add... Had been thinking about buying cage liners but was put off because I thought it'd be too soft, little silly I know, but how has everyone found cage liners? How soft are they compared to just fleece and towels?

I make cage liners and i wouldnt say they were as soft as fleece and towels as towels are more spongy than mattres toppers but i use anti-pill polar fleece for them, i like liners because they can last a week i have 8 sows in a 2 level 2x4 with 2x1 kitchen c&c cage and the liners (2) last a week easily,

Liners have airy wadding that spreads the pee out and eventually dries reducing the smell where as towels stay wet which makes them smell, liners also have a water resistant backing which prevents pee leaking to your tray,

i also like them because they can have a complete clean cage in around ten mins, i take the 4 corners ot the liner with all poos in side shake in the bin or garden place in single duvet cover and wash in machine (without softener) a quick wipe of the tray and put a new liner on just like putting a sheet on a bed,

My liners have sides to stop burrowing and soggy poos getting under the feece and squished in the tray

Dunelm fleeces are good, they wash well & are bigger than most I found. They cost £4.99 for the plain coloured ones :)

Do you have to put newspaper under the liners? I have only ever used fleeces from Tesco.

I Use a primark and a dunelm fleece and so far they have served me well, but recently i bought a nice fleece from the range (not sure how many places had a range) but its a giant shop with just random stuff in it basically :L it was fairly cheap and seems pretty good so far :)

I have one from B&M bargins of all places and it's the best one I have. It always washes really nice. My others are from Primark - one thing I found recently was the stitching of the primark one came away at the side, think it was only one that had this stitching. They are all fine though.

It's actually you I was considering getting liners from lol :(|) I think they look great. In terms of the wadding is it spongy? Is there anything you'd compare the feeling of it to? I like them having soft flooring but at the same time I don't want it to be like a sinking, too soft bedding. And I don't use grids anymore do you think the side bits would still stay in place? Sorry for the many questions, really not sure what I want to do lol.

Ewww a fiver sounds pretty good, do you know where they sell them? It was the price that was putting me off Dunelm but that sounds like pretty good value.

Ahhh brilliant, which one would you say you prefer? Like which one would you say has done the best job? And ewww didn't even think about getting one from the range, we've got two pretty close but I pretty much just spend my time in the animal section :)).

I sell fleece by the metre in aid of rescues in the UK. I am just closing my shop for Christmas but will be open again in the New Year. I sell a metre of fleece that is 150cms wide for £7 including postage. This is a real bargain as the fleece would normally retail for that so you are essentially getting the postage free (which is over £2).

I often look at fleeces in places like primark and rarely buy because the quality is just not there. The fabric is nearly bald and has no pile. I too use polar anti-pill fleece and it washes and wears really well. I still have a number of cozies from when I first started making them over two years ago. These have had fortnightly washing.

My website address is www.cavycozies.com Hammocky hammocks also sell fleece for the same price and they donate their profits to rescues too: www.hammockyhammocks.co.uk

threelittlepigs is right, fleece blankets are rarely high quality fleece, i have used primark fleece for liners and was awful, dunelm have been fine tho and i buy regularly from there but the best is 100% polyester anti-pill polar fleece which you can buy on ebay, i pay £4 a metre.

I prefer only to do liners with sides because i have tried without and they don't work and make loads of mess the liners tuck under the tray on the outside, what is the height of your correx i would be able to do any height but may cost a few £ more (just the charge of extra fleece)

All Dunelm stock the plain large fleece blankets at £5 as far as I know, I got mine reduced to £4 I think as they often have sales on.

The other place is Asda, they have lovely patterns; are a little bit dearer than Dunelm, by about a pound but they are very thick & wash really well. I usually make sure they are 100% polyester but never buy the thin ones, just check by feeling them :)

Gonna sound really slow now but I didn't even realise Dunelm is a shop :)). Thank you, think I might check it out :).

Dindy says that Auntie Pollies fleece (threelitlepigs) is the best quaility fleece for the job. Hers works out the same to buy of her per metre as fleebay when you take postage into consideration. There's also the added comfort that Pollie is a dedicated donater to rescues and sanctuaries.

Just to throw another ino the mix, Ikea fleeces are pretty good.. They're thick, wash well and are a bit bigger than usual blankets.

Also, if you don't decide to go for liners, I would recommend using puppy training pads between the fleece and towels. I found them brilliant at keeping pee from going straight through to the towels, but keeping the fleece layer dry :)
