I'm thinking about moving my piggies on to fleece, but before I commit to it, I want to give it a trial run. I have some fleece blankets that I bought whilst at university - they have been washed MANY times, but at some point have probably been washed with fabric softener. Will this render them useless, or will I be okay using them to try this out as a bedding option?

Thanks,
H

You can use them they just would work better without softener, you also need towels underneath, i use cageliners that i make and sell i use mattress toppers sewn to fleece then its just like making a bed when cleaning cages

You can test the fleece blanket before you put in the cage. Put the fleece on top of a towel and pour some water on. See if the water goes through.

If it doesn't, wash it 3 times with detergent (without softener). Some people on cloth diaper forums also report that dish washing detergent work well for stripping the waterproof coating from fleece.

Thank you! I will have to locate the old blanket, and trim it to size after a patch test! Not sure what the piggies will make of it, but definitely worth a try.

I love the cage liners - they are amazing! Maybe when I'm rich... *wistful sigh*

hey

i put my gals on them an they love it, looks so much more comfortable, i just pick the poos out twice a day an fully change every 2-3 days.
you can also pick them up cheap my current ones i picked up in wilkons an where only £2 in the sale, also can get them cheap in bedding shops, a little tip i do is shake it off, an hoover it before washing saves getting hay in your washer. good luck :)p
