Hi all, today i brought my new guinea pigs home and I'm using fleece as my beddding with towels and newspaper underneath. Ive washed the fleece 3 times so it will wick properly. My piggies peed on the fleece and left a stain but it wasnt wet. Does this mean the fleece is wicking properly?

Oh thank the lord for that! I was worried because it wasnt wicking straight away, the liquid would stay there for awhile but it looks like it eventually wicked through

My fleeces were like that when I had washed them 3 times, but after a couple more washes the wee just soaked straight through and there was no staining.

Thanks :) i wash the fleece with detergent and on cold water and then dry it in the dryer, is this okay?

I'd like someone who knows what they are talking about confirm this.... But I think I've read that you should wash with water hot enough to kill bacteria?

I can say - from experience using fleece liners in baby's cloth nappies - you must avoid fabric softener as this will block liquid from wicking through.

Hi all, back again haha. I have washed it around 6-7 times now and its still not wicking through. I was just wondering if it might have something to do with me buying a fleece blanket and not buying fleece from a materials store? The fleece is 100% polyester

i used to wash at 40...but have since changed to 60 the last 6 months to make sure it kills all the germs. I also use vanish extra hygiene in each wash.
i find some fleece wicks better than others. I usually find the very cheap fleece takes longer to wick ..
