Hello :)

I've been quite excited since I bought a very funky black and white zebra type fleece for my 2 boys. Its 100% poly and is now going through its 6th wash. I tried it earlier on and water is just sitting on the top. I it normal to have to wash it this much ?/

I'd be grateful for any advice

are you using fabric conditioner? or using a washing powder/gel that contains fabric conditioner? as this will be the problem and will stop the fleece from allowing liquids to wick through. Ive only ever washed my new fleece 4 times max.....

I've not been adding fabric conditioner, just been using Tesco washing liquid. I dont think that has added conditioner, I'll go and check now. Thanks

I have noticed that the thicker more throw type fleeces do not seem to be water proof.

Ha maybe my fleece is too thick. I'm not going to wash it anymore anyway, this is the last time. I may look for a thinner fleece tomorrow or maybe some bath mats. I've just been looking at the cage setups and someone used bath mats to line their cage. Has anyone else done this.

Thanks for your replies x

I myself have not used bath mats but I have heard of people using them successfully. After all they are meant to be absorbent.

Microfleece is a very thick, soft fleece, and is usually sold because it is so soft. You cant use it for piggies though, they would be so wet! You should get a 100% polyester fleece pet blanket. They are super cheap and extra soft.

Are there any car boot sales in your area? I got a few fleeces from a cbs, I think the most expensive one was £1 for a thick Barbie one but the others were about 20-50p, towels are cheap too and all were used and washed several times , so I just washed them to get the smell of child off them and was ready to go. :))
