I have a 2x4 c&c cage with a 2x2 loft, and I am currently using fleece. I am concerned though be cause my two piggies make a mess of it, and it has started to smell very bad. My mom is especially concerned about the odor, not to mention washing the blankets in her washing machine :vom:. I also shake out the blankets every day and replace some of the newspaper, which makes a mess in my carpet bedroom. Is paper bedding easier and a better option for me? I am worried that it may get a bit expensive. Right now I can get a 60L bag of Carefresh natural for 11 dollars for my hammies, so will that be enough? Or does anyone have a better suggestions for bedding brands? Thanks!

I can get a 60l bag of the Carefresh to cover a pair of 4x2 cages with relative ease as long as you don't have it as a very deep layer.

I use fleece liners in my cage and extra mats under their houses where they like to hang out.

I also have a hay tray area with a couple of 32litre under bed storage boxes filled with hemp bedding from zoopluz and hay hay hay. They love making tunnels in the hay as well as eating it.

I use a horse blanket wash bag to wash any animal items like fleece and towels. I find newspaper just trapped the urine and went all soggy. Not sure what US members could advise ...
