I just bought some new fleece and washed it all 4 times and dried it 4 times with no fabric softener just like I read. I made up a fleece matt to fit the cage and it is two layers just like I read and I put water on the finished product and the water stayed right on top and didn't soak in. Why didn't it work?

Did you wash with detergent? Sometimes washing in hot water with detergent and vinegar will help make it wick faster.
Also what kind of fleece? If it's a plush fleece, it usually doesn't work.

Are those your pigs in your avatar? If they are, please don't put leashes on them. They can break their backs if they get startle and run.
If you want to take them outside, make a playpen for them.

I agree with Lissie, go through the guides again and make sure you have the right fleece. Sometimes washing in the wrong kind of detergent can stop the soaking properties too :)

what type of fleece is it? and did you put something underneath it to absorb?

I bought a throw blanket and it says 100% polyester and I bought some matriel from a fabric store and I am going to phone them today and ask them if it is 100% polyester because the water just runs off it them. I did notice after doing the post that the throw blanket it absord the water but with 2 hand towels under neath it still took a few minutes for the top layer of the fleece to dry but I think it will be okay. I just want to make sure that it works 100% so my piggy's stay dry. As for he other fleece maybe they aren't the right stuff. Yes I washed them in hot water with detergent, then dried them on medium setting in the dryer. How much vinegar should I use.

As for the harness I don't use them much and my piggy's don't mind them at all. We go camping every year in a house trailer and the 2 will come with us and I wanted the harness so they can't get away if they are in my arms. I will have them a run with a roof aswell so they get out of the trailer lots.

Thanks for the fleece and harness tips guys. :)
