Can't get one of my new fleeces to wick. Have washed it in non-bio (no softener) at least 5-6 times but the water is still pooling on the top. The other one wicked after just one wash! Any tips on what I should do? Does vinegar help with wicking? Thanks.

Is it a different type of fleece from the other? What is the fabric content? Vinegar doesn't help with wicking - it's just an odour neutraliser and mild cleaner.
I've found teddy bear fleeces don't wick well, but most other polyester fleeces will wick. But I suspect if this one won't wick after a number of washes that it may never wick

I'm not sure what it's made from. Ordered them from Ziggy's piggies. One is just a plain colour, the other one (that's not wicking) is patterned, so not sure if they're the same material or not.

I only ordered 2 cage liners so need to figure out something before changeover day on Monday otherwise I'm going to be stuck! Guess I could put them back on wood shavings for a few days till I order another one, or wash the existing one.

Sorry - I didn't realise it was a pre-made fleece lined. I'd contact ziggys piggies and ask them about it, - if it won't wick them perhaps they will replace or refund.

Also you need to see what happens with guinea pig pee.
Water is quite a good test, but pee is a totally different solution, and often wicks faster than water due to the composition (it has something to do with the acidity, but it might be alkalinity - not sure off the top of my head).
I would speak to Ziggy, but it might be worth trying the fleece in the cage and seeing how it functions IRL?

Try washing in hot water with bleach. Rinse well.

I wouldnt want bleach on anything that my animals were coming into contact with. Vinegar is a really good disinfectant and more natural.

Hope it does wick the wee as Swissgreys suggests.

I can't imagine bleach would help the fleece to wick, but it's a good idea to see if a bit of pee will wick through. If not, then speak to Ziggys as to what they recommend.

Was there any update on this? Was the seller contacted?

Yes, excellent customer service from seller. Replacement liner in the post as we speak and they paid for the dud one to be couriered back to them so they could speak to the manufacturer about it.
