I use my own made fleece cage liners that are fleece with towel sewn in between and fleece on the bottom. I also then put a towel underneath at one end of the cage, where the litter tray is as it is often more wet there, and i have a leaky bottle there too. I also put newspaper under the towel there, and some more newspaper on it's own the other end of the cage under the hideys. I change the newspaper daily and the towel underneath every few days as mine gets very wet one end. Often the towel underneath gets very smelly of wee! i hope i made sense
Proper fleece liners that are for sale should need nothing underneath. They are supposed to be a complete bedding in themselves as there is supposed to be a a waterproof barrier between the 2 fabric sides. I would check with cosy beds & burrows about this.
" They are a layer of fleece, then wadding, and finally wadding lined quilted fabric, which should hold accidental liquids. Of course depending on the number of animals and how much they urinate/spill water it does need removing and washing regularly."
It sounds like nothing is needed underneath the fleece liner. You should probably get 2. Any fabric bedding will need regular washing. With my 2 boars I wash once a week & have 2 sets so that there is a clean one ready on wash day.
Oh good, that's brill then.
At the mo there on newspaper, towels and fleece. I am washing every 4 days.
Poo pick daily.
I'm running out of newspaper you see so if I don't need anything under the fleece liner that's brill.
Well i ordered the fleece liner from cosy beds n burrows it came today. Wow jenny is fantastic at what she does, the liner is so thick quilted and padded. It's on its 3rd wash at the minute with just non bio wash powder.
I can't wait to try it out.
It cost me £20 plus £4 delivery for a 140cm x 70cm.
