My first set of fleece hideys were delivered today (2 hidey tubes and a cuddle bed from Cavy Couture- I've ordered some pigloos from Ziggies Piggies too) but is it safe to let the piggies use fleecy hideys and beds in warm weather?
I dont want them to overheat, will they know to come out if they get too warm? All their furniture so far has been woven grass or wood, but Theo has eaten most of his favorite grass sleepy tube and left some sharp bits he doesnt like to sit on...

We have left our fleeces in and they are still using them in an evening not in the day i have noticed.

They also have there wood houses to hang out in during the day.

If you have really shy piggies who never come out then use cooler hides. Mine would gladly get heat stroke than risk coming out so I always use breathable hides in summer.

I don't tend to leave the fleece hides in during summer, just comfy crash pillows etc.

I turn my fleece hideys the other way out in the summer so that the fleece is on the outside and the cotton is on the inside. They also love their playstix tunnels. I have taken out the plastic pigloos from the hutch and the run so that they don't have these cos they would def cook in them!

Mine tend to sit on top of the fleece tunnels as well as in them.
I have freezer blocks close to the tunnels as well. Good idea to turn the inside out @Betsy

All of mine have open fleecy beds at the moment apart from Ophelia (skinny) who still has her fleecy bulb as she would think the world had ended if we took it away. She is sensible enough to move out of it when she is hot though and go in her cottage. We have air con too and luckily the room does not get warm until late afternoon as will our windows face the same way.

Thanks for answering the question @Betsy .Mine will lie close to the freezer blocks except for Priscilla who does like to sit on one.
She does have a lot of fur though

I have just given Betsy another summer haircut but she is too shy to want a picture taken with her beautiful long hair all chopped off. She looks very strange with short hair like a "normal" piggy.

I have had to let Theo keep his fleecy tunnel because he developed a... ahem... special relationship with it! Maybe because it is a similar colour to Lady Puggle?! The other new fleecy things have been put away until autumn except the open cuddle couch for lap time :)

My piggies have just got open fleece sofas at the moment. I’ve got stick tunnels, a doll’s bed and a grassy arch in there to encourage air flow.

Its still quite cool this week in Liverpool, rain this morning then no hotter than 22 degrees in the sun this afternoon (and the piggy room is in the shade after 11am). We need to be careful thursday as thats forecast to be the hottest day of the week, then thunderstorms friday hopefully!
