Hi everyone

My two boars moved indoors a few weeks ago and are now in a 2x4 C&C cage.

I was really unsure about using fleece but after reading so many threads I took the plunge and ordered a cage liner (made by lorriane 4piggiepigs).

I LOVE IT! and am so glad I made the switch.

I did have a few teething troubles, my two boys could wee for britain and it really pongs so after only two days they really stank :)>>>

They now have a hay loft which is lined with puppy pads, newspaper, paper pellets and hay and they seem to wee the most up there so it gets cleaned fully every other day.

I have sewn a square of fleece onto a mattress topper and this works brilliantly on top of the liner; placed in the corner they poop the most. I just pick it up every morning and shake the poop in the bin - Easy! it also doubles up as a lap blanket.

C&C cage isn't cable tied at one end so I just unclip it, slide the correx out and change the liner - so quick, so easy and no mess.

I haven't found washing it a chore either, just give it a shake brush the hair off and pop it in the washing machine (I use a prewash cycle first and wash at 60. Every other week I put a cup of soda crystals in the empty drum and run a 95 wash).

If anyone is thinking of using fleece but isn't sure I would definitely recommend it. I have even managed to make my own cageliner:)

TGPF is great - I would never have learnt about C&C cages or fleece had I not come on here

xx

Oooh sounds brilliant! Well done you! Same here for me, my piggies were in a ferplast cage with saw dust :... now they are in a 5x2 (have gained an extra piggy :))) with vet bed and god knows how many toys (they've taken over two of my kitchen cupboards!) This forum is brilliant xx>>>

How lovely :)

My boys have a couple of fleece cosies but I need to sort them out with a few toys and hidy holes :)

I can see what you mean. I use fleece too and think it is the greatest thing ever!:)

Aww i'm glad you like it, they do work better the more they are washed and i have no experience with boar's and their smells lol, well done on making your own any chance of pics?:(|) I use kids toilet steps (you can get them from jtf or pound shops) for my piggies, they hide under or sit on top and they are cheaper than hideys

Reading this thought we should get a sticky on fleece reviews so people kinda find others who have same amount of piggies or similar busy life styles etc. and see if fleece would work for them ?

There is sort of one already, if you go into - Types of Bedding, Reviews and Tips and then click on fleece. Not sure if there have been any recent posts though.

Photos - better late than never!

Just a couple of pictures of my home made cage liner :)

I use half and half... their floor is wood shavings (Dust extracted) and they have fleece on the top levels and litter trays under the hay racks with paper pellets in.. love this method and its far more easier to clean. xx>>>

my two sleep downstairs on the fleece and poop in the bottom corner under the ramp but tend to pee upstairs in the loft so I use newspaper up here as I can change it every day, just experimenting with something absorbant, wood shavings didn't work for me and I love carefresh but its mega expensive!

They tend to kick a lot of bedding out the sides when they run up and down the ramp so megazorb is a definite no no as it its so light and just goes everywhere!

Re: megazorb escaping the hayloft.

I've got a little rail on my piggies ramp and made a raised lip at the top of the hayloft with correx ( the ramp's made of that too and reinforced with garden canes underneath ), the ramp and "speedbump" at the top are covered with a strip of yoga sticky mat and together they work to keep the megazorb upstairs in the hayloft and not travelling downstairs to the fleece. :)
Well, most of it anyway rolleyes it tends to be most effective with Yoshi and Moonpig but a small amount finds it's way onto the ramp ( but doesn't roll off because of the sticky mat ) when Rocket teleports himself from one corner of the cage to the other! :(|)

I used a waterproof cotton mattress topper from argos.

Just need to play around with the hayloft and ramp to try to keep the bedding in the loft and not all over the fleece and the floor!

That looks great! I'm well jel:)) I use fleece with the girls. I have to use carefresh with luigi though because he really stinks:x

my two boys stink as well! :))

The fleece is fine as long as I poop scoop every day as this can be a bit whiffy. The hayloft gets fully cleaned every other day because they wee the most in there, just experimenting with hayloft bedding at the moment :)
