Teenage Guinea Pig
Hi everyone
My two boars moved indoors a few weeks ago and are now in a 2x4 C&C cage.
I was really unsure about using fleece but after reading so many threads I took the plunge and ordered a cage liner (made by lorriane 4piggiepigs).
I LOVE IT! and am so glad I made the switch.
I did have a few teething troubles, my two boys could wee for britain and it really pongs so after only two days they really stank >>>
They now have a hay loft which is lined with puppy pads, newspaper, paper pellets and hay and they seem to wee the most up there so it gets cleaned fully every other day.
I have sewn a square of fleece onto a mattress topper and this works brilliantly on top of the liner; placed in the corner they poop the most. I just pick it up every morning and shake the poop in the bin - Easy! it also doubles up as a lap blanket.
C&C cage isn't cable tied at one end so I just unclip it, slide the correx out and change the liner - so quick, so easy and no mess.
I haven't found washing it a chore either, just give it a shake brush the hair off and pop it in the washing machine (I use a prewash cycle first and wash at 60. Every other week I put a cup of soda crystals in the empty drum and run a 95 wash).
If anyone is thinking of using fleece but isn't sure I would definitely recommend it. I have even managed to make my own cageliner
TGPF is great - I would never have learnt about C&C cages or fleece had I not come on here
xx
