HI GUYS.
I'm in process of making the boys new cage, I would like to put fleece down.
Just want to check I am setting up correctly as I am no good at sewing!.... Is 1 layer of puppy pads disposable or reusable OK under the fleece? Also would it work if I put a layer of Zorb and then the fleece on top. Do I need 2 absorbent layers?

How do you keep fleece secure when it's not made into a liner.
Please could I see a few pics of cages with this set up.
Many thanks xx

If you mean zorb as in the absorbant fabric this would be fab under the fleece. It's not common in the uk as its pretty expensive and I only know of 1 company that sew it into their cage liners, but my understanding is that its really good.

Oh is it.. Is there something similar I can use.. X

i have zorb liners and find it is excellent,it absorbs quickly and holds much more moisture than any other material i have used.C and E COSIES are the company in the uk that sell zorb liners/online .

Yep thats who I was thinking of too.

I use a waterproof mattress protector for the piggies. The boys have theirs seen between two pieces of fleece. The girls just have the fleece draped (and clipped) on top of the protector - they’re burrowers 🤦🏾‍♀️

When I started with fleece I did a trial run before making/buying liners to be sure I was going to like them.
I literally just put a fleece blanket down, then a cotton mattress protector on top and then another piece of fleece n top of that to complete the 'sandwich'.
I didn't put a waterproof layer at the bottom as my cages are lined with correx.
I actually loved having everything in single layers, as it made it super easy to wash, but in the end I did sew everything into liners as lining all the pieces up on cage clean day was a bit of a pain.

Hi this is very helpful thanks.
I will try this. I get confused about how many layers etc needed I have some noodle bath mats, and pee pads to go in the high traffic areas.

Pee pass are a good idea. I use bath maths on top of the fleece, which makes them last longer...until they (I’m looking at you girls!) burrow underneath them 🙄 have a play around and see what works for you.

Just a question about fleece pads. I've been researching and people do it in a few different ways. Would anyone advise this..... puppy or washable pad on the bottom, towel then fleece on top? Also if using zorb which layer would this be? Thanks in advance 😁😁

Zorb can be used in place of the puppy pads (washable or reusable). You don't need the towel under the fleece. I actually wouldn't use them as they won't dry as quick as a puppy pad or zorb will. The point is you need something underneath the fleece to absorb the urine.

That's great. Thank you. Could you see the zorb to the fleece or just 2 layers if fleece sewn and zorb loose?😁

You can sew or not, depends what you find easier.
