Hi can anyone help ive not long had 2 females they are about 12 weeks and they hide under the blankets is there a way 2 stop them doing this as they only come out when its food times and no one is in room as they so scared still thanks

This is natural behaviour for guinea pigs. They are still new to you and their home and it will take them time before they learn to get used to you. You can help by taking them out each day and having them on your lap. They can be under a fleece as it will help them feel safer. Just have them for five minutes at a time to slowly get them used to you. In time they will take a piece of fruit or vegetable from you and learn you are their friend.

Do they have houses or hideys to hide in?
You can also provide them with sleeping sacs so they don't go under the blanket.

If you haven't had them for long they're just trying to hide, as they aren't used to the environment (noise, etc) or people. Once they get tamer the problem may pass :) Handle them a little every day until they get used to you. Do not be scared to expose them to certain noises too (e.g the hoover in the room) because they will need to adjust to it so they don't get scared.
My pigs are both totally tame now but still burrow under the fleece - I clipped it to the sides of my correx with bull dog clips for ages but they'd still find spots they could get under! (I've switched beddings now).

Yes they have a bed and hideys but dont seem 2 use them. They have had veg out my hand and when they have lap time they will settle after a few minutes. I was worried as ive 2 boys in a c&c and they was never so scared thanks for all ** replies
