Hey there guys, so I use fleece in my guinea pig's cage. The issue I've been having is getting the majority of the pig's hair off the fleece before putting it in the wash. Obviously I don't want to clog and mess up the washing machine, but shaking the fleece, lint rolling it, and brushing with the dustpan brush just doesn't seem to get his hair off :/ Does anyone have any advice on what to do so I can continue to use fleece?

I give mine a good shake outside and rub it on a brick wall. If you're worried about your washing machine clogging up, a lot of people use wash bags for their fleece. I don't use them but haven't had any issues. I cleaned the filter and was surprised by the lack of fur and hay!

Excuse me being a bit thick. Buts what's a horsewash bag and where would you get one from? I'm guessing its like a laundry wash bag that collects all the hair and hay etc, but perhaps a bit more sturdy than a white netting laundry bag?
Also, when I joined the forum a short while ago, there was a conversation on bedding and absorbency pads to use under vet beds. Sure the word began with an ' I '. Been trying to find post since as sounded decent stuff and possibly cheaper to purchase than puppy pads. Anyone any ideas?

Could have been incontinence pads. That's what I use as no smell.I got my wash bag from eBay.Was quite dear but well worth it.It is a cloth bag with a zip. When I used a duvet cover it kept coming undone. You can get washable incontinence pads.I use it for my rat hammocks as well

Thank you madguinealady. Wasn't incontinence pads however I had no idea you could get washable ones of these so I might give them a try! To me, the stuff I read about sounded as though it was a pet bed product to use with vet bed or fleece!

Thanks for the advice everyone :) After doing more research I have decided to get a rubber based comb in hopes that it will help to remove the majority of hair.

I use a rubber brush for my vetbed, seems to work well! But it's only been a few weeks, there's still time to clog up the washing machine!

They've saved me a lot of aggro with OH ! I have 3 bags. The idea was to rotate them but I'm using 2 to store Hay in at the moment.

Just adding a link to the petware washbags I use

I wouldn't be without them
This is simpler to what I have just brought my white piggy towels are still white not green as feared ;) these are nice thick sturdy bags, yes they seem expensive but they don't let any hairs escape into your washer I'm really pleased with mine, great strong zip too that does not open in the wash :)
