Hi everyone,

Over the past couple of weeks I have been looking into fleece bedding. My piggies are in an outdoor hutch, so wondering if fleece bedding would be ok, asking as I have only seen indoor cages using fleece bedding.

I would love to use fleece bedding for my piggies but not sure as they are outside, any thoughts would be appreciated, many thanks x

@Leanne78 I love fleece but I find that it only works in big cages. I have to use Vetbed or hay in any hospital cages.

When it gets cold the piggies are going to need lots of hay to keep warm too, and hay loves to stick to fleece!

I was advised by someone on this forum (can't remember who now) that fleece wasn't an option for outside piggies especially in winter when the frosts come as all the wee can freeze in the frost. I have never used fleece. I use puppy pads and about a foot of hay and keep topping it up. In winter you need to use twice the amount of hay that you do in the summer to keep your piggies warm. This is my hutch on clean out day a few weeks ago.

I use fleece liners in my 6 feet x 2. Feet hutches in spring and autumn.use disposable bedding in the bedroom area.I use megazorb with dengi medibed on top,or aubiose hemp bedding.I use vetbed with puppypads underneath in winter. I find fleece remains damp and cold in the winter.stuff lots of hay in bedroom area.the new carrot design hides from rose wood are good.as fleece, bedding, and hay does not stick to them.snuggles heat pads are a must in cold weather.I hope this helps a little.ill take some photos of my setup later today.:)

I tried fleece bedding in my boys hutch and I found that when it was colder or raining the fleece felt damp 😔 it seems to be ok in the summer months. I'm using it at the moment as one of my boys had a delicate man issue and I wanted to keep him comfortable. Unfortunately they both prefer it and won’t sleep anywhere else 🤦🏼‍♀️34994473-83D2-4715-B74D-C7315140E5CC.webp

Ok thank you, did think maybe fleece wouldn't be ideal in a hutch. For winter they are coming indoors so will use fleece when they are indoors x
