I'm going to Asda tomorrow so I am going to have a look for the fleece. Is it in the baby section or general hosehold?

Thank you!

I don't live near an Asda but I do shop with them online, so I'll be sure to see if I can buy some that way.

I only have 2 fleeces x.x and as you can imagine, that takes up alot of time.
It would be easier for me to have a load and then just wash them all on the same day every week.

Where as I seem to be washing a fleece every couple of days at the moment @)

Going to get some today. I have light blue at the mo and it looks terrible after an hour of them getting n there after a clean.

Thanks for the tip!

Just back from Asda and got two of the cream fleeces. Fab value and I cant wait to get it into the girls cage. They will be so excited. Thanks for the tip crazyaboutcavys!

how good is fleece with getting rid of hay?

I find my vet bed is never really clean despite rigourous brushing before/after wash. What do you use underneath? How is it for smell?

thanks

my vet bed smells strongly of wee after 24hrs, yet the newspaper/shedded paper underneath is not all wet... I wash it (the vet bed) every 2 days, maybe 2 1/2 days at times at 40 degrees, like I have been told to do. I've only had it since Christmas.

well, just back from my neartest Asda and NO fleece! :(

I just crossed the road to Tesco Home Plus and found some similar fleece at £3, £3.75 and £4, ok, not quite as cheap but that'll do me for now.

I got some at Asda today and am about to clean the guineas out so will report back but already I prefer fleece to vet bed in terms of smell.

we have just changed the pigs to fleece. They are very perplexed with the new surroundings, there's a lot of hopping and talking, exploring, sniffing around! They've already peed and pooed on it so I guess, they're comfortable with it! :))

I've also put their hay in socks, which is probably what has disturbed them most...:{

Hay in socks? am i missing something?

Using the brown fleece and it has been down 2 days and so far it does not smell and everything seems to bush off okay. I have been using metal clips to attach it to the sides otherwise they were burrowing underneath and eating the newspaper :)

Hay in socks, you know those metal hay hangers? well socks work just as well if you make some holes in them (clean though:)) ) And they're a lot cheaper:)

something to do with all the odd and holey socks which sit in my laundry room looking forlorn and sad

Oooh £2 what a bargain, I'll have to look later!
MrsM - I use fleeces in the piggies indoor cage and in their run for the evenings - while it is a pain that hay sticks to *everything* I've got a stiff hand brush which I use to get the hay off while I'm cleaning them out so the washing machine doesn't get clogged. It is quite physical work lol, and little bits of hay get everywhere when you brush the fleece but it is so convienent to just be able to wash and reuse their bedding
x

Mine shrunk in the wash! Luckily I hadn't cut it to size just folded it over so be aware it does shrink quite alot in the wash. Hope it's only the first wash it shrinks like that.

So far I've found it much less 'sticky' than vet bed. thanks for the tips, i do have a good hard hand brush and i am used to looking like a rural christmas tree... It doesn't go all the way into the inch-thich pile with the fleece. The boys seem to like it too, shich is always a bonus!

40 degrees so not hot. Just be aware it's massive so fold it rather than cut to shape and the shrinking wont matter.

:)
