Hi all, I have 2 skinny pigs which I keep indoors, my sister is really struggling with the sawdust bedding I am currently using. I am thinking about changing over to fleece. Does anyone have any tips for using fleece, and what, if anything do you all use under the fleece? All advice will ad greatly received! Thanks xx

Hello, I use fleece but my piggies are covered in hair so I don't know if that makes a difference?! No tips really, I just love using it and I'm sure my piggies love it too. I have a plastic under my fleece, but in the area where I dont, I either use towels or newspaper.

It is really good you are thinking about switching bedding as sawdust is not suitable for skinny pigs due to their delicate skin. If you want to use fleece you will need one absorbent layer such as towels and then two layers of fleece. Hay is best kept in hay bags to avoid eye pokes as they are more prone to them. I will tag @helen105281 for you as she has a skinny pig and knows more.

my son is asthmatic and struggles with shavings so I use aubiose and this doesn't seem to cause a reaction. There is also finacard which is pretty good. I have a large c&c cage with litter trays and a ground sheet then newspaper then fleece with towel under where they pee. It is very rare for them to pee anywhere else other than shelter where the litter trays are which is why I can get away with newspaper everywhere else.

Fleece is a fantastic bedding, but requires more upkeep. I'd choose it over any bedding if you are willing to put in the work :)
