Hi,

I am having a real problem at the minute. In an effort to save space in my bin I have switched from soley megazorb to fleece and corner littertrays with megazorb in for under the hay racks.

My first problem is my upstairs two. They get so many poos in their bowls it can't be good for them. I have had to start feeding them half food in morning and then half when I come home from work and even then when I go to change it, it is just a bowl of poo! It is ridculas how much gets in there! does anyone have any tips for avoiding this? Luckly my downstairs two have a second level where I feed them and they never seem to toilet up there they save it for the downstairs!

The second problem is the smell of my upstairs two. They stink on the second day. I do a full clean out of an evening and then the next evening when I come home from work I am hit by the smell as I walk in the door. The litter trays are cleaned daily but this is less than 24 hours later more like 20! Any tips?

I currently use two layers of towels, then fleece and then a corner littertray with megazorb for under hay rack

Thanks x

I don't know if its just me but I found this to be a problem with fleece in general... I switched from fleece to disposable bedding (currently using easibed) because of the smell.

I have never tried fleece but I do imagine it would be very smelly. Easibed or wood shavings may be better. As far as the poos go, unfortunately some pigs tend to do this, especially Gucci. It won't do them any harm, it's just a pain! :)p

My two are disgusting little girlies, they eat their own poo all the time, straight from their back end! It makes me gip a bit when I see them do it.... ugh!
This said, they also manage to get poo in their food bowl (how?!) and I often find a small collection when they get close to the bottom of the bowl, so they don't just automatically eat it because it's in there.
I think as long as you clean them regularly, empty the poo from the bowl and give it a wash before you feed them, they will be fine. Don't worry :)

I have had this problem with the smell. I use vetbed and no matter how much I clean I can still smell it. I have 2 boars and whenever I clean them out I think they respray it to familiarise themselves. Which is why I am moving them to their shed again. I will miss them, they have been with me for 2/ 3 weeks, but I am making sure they will be warm enough.

glad it is no just me george is kinda dominant and his cage has always smelt think it's back to megazorb for him and Tia with the downstairs two just on fleece!

Sigh..my piggies does this too..So I clean out their bowls everyday. I dunno how often you should change their food but I throw out the old and put new in as I clean the bowl everyday.
