Hi all,

just said night to the boys and noticed something small and black jumping…closer inspection noticed more in the bedding….definitely fleas…. Guineas have been out on the grass, would they carry them in on their fur at all? (Hutch is in garage) We have a puppy but he doesn’t go in the garage. He does go in the garden next to their run. Checked him all over…no fleas on him… 😩😩😩 what do I do? I cleaned the hutch out…put diatomaceous earth in hutch edges and put puppy pads in hutch with a pile of hay to eat. (Usually use chopped straw)

Hi!

Guinea pigs don't have species specific fleas, so they should leave off quickly once they start feeling sick from getting the wrong diet. They may have picked it up from anything, like a passing feral cat etc.
If not, please contact your vet clinic for a product that is safe for rodents and small animals; products for dogs aren't.
