Hello my baby guinea pig has a flaky foot. I don't know what it means, is she Ill or maybe just needs some foot cream, I don't know. I have noticed some other things, do not know if they are relevant , white stuff coming out her bum and some dry thing by her nose. Please reply if you know what this is or you want to help.
Thanks - Riggs Pigs

P.S the baby is called Matilda. :ple:

Hello, Welcome to the forum.

Your piggy needs to see a vet as a flaky foot could be a few issues most likely fungal, but this cannot be diagnosed over the internet. Is Matilda definitely a girl? Can you post a photo of the dry thing by her nose? This could also be a fungal issue possibly. A vet will be able to advise and prescribe relevant cream etc...

Where are you based? We can recommend good vets often

Hmmm.....
Is it turning red? Or any unatural colour?
Are her feet peeling? Or has she been exposed to hot floors or sand?
Is she acting unusually? Is it bothering her?
Maybe if it is bothering her get her checked out by a vet. I don't know much about the bum or nose.
Good luck!

It's peeling but it she doesn't seem hurt of bothred. the thing on the nose has gone probably fallen off. i think that was just dirt

Hello and welcome to the forum.

As we have members from all over the world, we find it very helpful if you please added your country and county, so we can adapt any advice accordingly. Please click on your username on the top bar, then go to personal details and scroll down to location.

How long have you had Matilda and when did you start to notice problems? How old is she? Does she live alone or with others?

Please can you post photos of the foot, nose and anything else troubling you and I am sure one of our health and illness advisors will give you their opinion.

She is 6 monthes and lives with her sister and 2 4 year old girls. the nose thing was just some dirt. I already have a vet if one is needed. i will just pop and take a pic of foot. @VickiA

I think it's always worth getting a routine vet appointment for things like this.

I remember when my boar had a flaky foot , I took him to the vet . I was given some anti fungal lotion to treat it ..

Is This Fungal?

I'm no expert on fungal infections but I would let a vet decide if she needs treatment and what the treatment should be. It usually clears quickly with the correct treatment from the vet.

Hello my gp has got a flaky foot. Do you know if it is a fungal infection?Matilda Flaky Foot..webp

it is very difficult to see from your picture what is the matter. If in doubt, please see a vet. if your new guinea pig is from a chain pet shop, you can reclaim the vet cost by presenting the vet bill with the sales receipt.

Could you please add your country, state/province or Uk county to your details, so we can tailor any advice to conditions where you are instead of keeping it as general as possible. We have got members and enquiries from all over the world. Click on your username on the top bar, then go to personal details and scroll down to location. Thank you! That will help us to be as efficient as possible.

Word to the wise, you will probably just irritate people if you link to your thread on multiple unrelated threads. This is a great forum with a great and knowledgeable team. They will advise you when they see your thread, but they also have lives to live, dinners to eat, piggies to feed etc so might not be instant.

Welcome to the forum though.

i just wanted to be sure before i went to the vet

I've not personally had experience of having a piggie with a fungal infection so I couldn't say sorry x Kate

Hi @Riggs Pigs

We have merged your 2 threads together as it helps other members keep track of related threads and avoids duplication..
