For a Cavie who I was told could NEVER EVER be with another of his kind as he would fight till the death, he is doing exceptionally well with his new "sister" Clover. Today, while sitting with them, as Clover is still so very scared, he was nibbling her ear. And if he gets too fresh, she now throws her head up at him. So, for an almost 4 week old she is finding her voice. They sit side by side at the salad bowl when they get it in the late afternoon, he shares his house and hay with her, she follows him around, it really is nice to see.

I am very thankful to find this forum...after pulling this 12hr shift, i will have a day off and intend to do more reading! LOVE my Cavies!

Unfortunately they’re sometimes written off after just one try. I’m glad he’s found his love ☺️

I am so happy that Fiver has found somebody who loves him and who he can cherish and adore!

Sadly because far too many people don't have the first idea about guinea pig social life, behaviours and species needs, too many mis-matched boars are kept in tiny cages where they can't get away from each other when the teenage hormones hit... :(

Quite a few of my own very happy 'husboars' are fallen-out and given up on boars.

That’s so lovely, so happy for you and the piggies! :D :luv:
My Luigi was also an aggressive boar with males but has been in his glory since last June with his ‘mum’ Jess and new girlfriend Aliona who joined us in January!
Think we need some pics of your happy couple! :D

They really are a critter you just need to understand. I don't know how some feel, but I grew up being taught, as I rode horses all my life, that you take each animal as an individual, not lump them into one group and that idea work for all of them, because it won't. You meet the needs of each individual animal, you watch and learn and see what it is they lack and help in those areas. I knew that Fiver was lonely, that he wanted buddy, but allowed him to get to know us first before attempting a 2nd Cavie.

Yesterday before work I was sitting by the cage talking to them and just watching their interaction, he went over rumble strutting, she looked at him and he reached out and nibbled on her ear! I thought that was so cute, then if he makes unwanted advances she now head thrusts at him and gives him a clear signal to stop being cheeky!
