Has anyone tried fitch paper bedding for guinea pigs before at the moment popcorn has wood shavings in his hutch but it can make their feet sore and they are selling fitch bedding.on amazon for £21.00 for a 20kg bale

I swing between using Fitch and puppy pads. I really like fitch and think it is warm for them during the cold weather. It is odour free and the pee doesn't normally smell either. However, in the height of summer I do think it can get a little wiffy so swap to puppy pads.

Cheaper if you go to source:

Yeah I'm getting fitch and puppy pads to line the bottom of the hutch with and it will make cleaning out a lot easier just roll everything up in the puppy pad the 20kg bales of fitch look massive Lol

I love Fitch - it is lovely and soft on piggie feet, absorbs smell and wee beautifully and is pretty much dust free. I get through a 20kg bale about every 6 weeks in my 5x2 c&c. However, I do find it quite wasteful as you can't sweep up poops. Whilst it's easy to spot clean any wet areas and replace with fresh Fitch, you can't sweep up dry poops without scooping up all the dry (and potentially reusable) Fitch. So you end up throwing away lots of clean and dry product which is annoying.

I've just swapped to fleece cage liners from C&S Cosies together with a potting tray at one end of the cage filled with Fitch and hay. We'll see how it goes!

Well I've Just received popcorns Fitch bedding today and omg I was shocked at the size there's loads I've lined the bottom of the hutch with 2 puppy training pads to absorb any urine it is so soft for his little feet too so he is very happy and it's dust free DSC_0030.webp

Well I've only had to renew popcorns sleeping area today and a little corner he's now required as his loo I lined bottom.of hutch with 2 disposable baby change mats with some folding fit perfectly otherwise would of been too big and then Fitch paper bedding on top the puppy pads I got I was surprised bottom of hutch very dry very happy with result I got disposable gloves so just sieved dirty bedding through didn't take too long :-D

Lots of people on here have said how Fitch is very absorbent and easy to clean out. But does Fitch pack down fairly solid in the cage after a while? I just wonder how easy it is for piggies to walk and run on, if it is all loose. Loose soft bedding can be difficult for them to walk on. Like you and me trying to walk on a pebbly beach! You know how your feet keep sinking in! :))

I'm really lucky, as I don't live far away from the manufacturer. For all those in the Manchester area, Fitch is based in Stalybridge, and it's less than half price if you collect it! On their website it says that if you collect, you don't pay P&P, but I was shocked to find out how much cheaper it was. It makes it very economical. :D

When I was spot cleaning it seemed to be quite flat popcorns had no trouble with it so far

See I live in Southampton so need it delivered but I'm happy with the price after seeing the enormous bag it came in and it was filled right to the top do I was very impressed and its lovely and soft and looks quite warm and cosy

I used Fitch before fleece, and still use it in their hay trays sometimes. I like it, the boys like it, and they've never appeared to have any trouble walking on it etc :) i'd use it if I had to go back on to disposable bedding for any reason.
