Well, I just ordered 20kg of fitch bedding as a replacement for the shavings. I have tried it for a few days and it looks great. I only bought 2kg to try out a few days ago and when I cleaned the cage yesterday and put on shavings, only after 10 mins of piggies in the cage, they throw the shavings everywhere on the floor and I said to my husband "That's it! I'm tired of sweeping all these shavings all the time and I'll order the fitch!":lol:

Anyway, how often do you replace the fitch bedding (for those of you using it)? Here is the hutch that I'll be using it in (a 5x2 run on fleece bedding is attached to it downstairs). I usually replace the shavings every 2 days and would do a complete clean every week. When I tried it a couple of days ago, I replaced it after 2 days because Prince and Cookie have stayed on it most of the time.

Fitch is great, I use it for my gerbils and for the piggies litter trays :)

We use Fitch for our two skinny pigs (Fitch are close to home for us so no delivery charges). We put newspaper underneath the Fitch bedding and spot clean any heavily soiled areas daily. Replace everything once a week. Our skinnys are indoors and we have absolutely no problem with odour from the Fitch bedding, and Dora and Ginger love it.

Well I've been using fitch for a week now. I found out that I have to replace the bedding every 2 days as my little boar Prince poo and pee a lot and the lower floor of the hutch where he sleeps is soiled after 2 days. He eats a lot and has gained around 200g in a month that he's been with us (he weighed 1080g when we got him last month and he is now 1236g)! Add to that that Cookie stays there most of the time with him even though they all have free run around the living room! The top floor of the hutch can be replaced every 3 days. There is also a separate place on the other side of the room (under their favorite ratan sofa) that I now replaced with fitch instead of shavings that I can replace every 3/4 days depending on how much time they spend there. I think the 20kg bag of fitch would last only a month and hopefully not less. :hmm:
