Hi, I had my five pigs on sawdust until earlier this year, when we switched to fleece. I've had a terrible time keeping it clean, especially as I have chronic joint pain. So for the last few weeks they've been on plain newspaper with hay boxes. This is because the room was redecorated and I wasn't allowed sawdust in there anymore. So I've now been looking into different beddings and I've pretty much decided on a mixture of fitch and finacard. I have a few questions before I take the plunge and buy large bales of both.

First, how much mess do they cause around the house? With sawdust, it ended up embedded in the carpet, in my bed in the next room, and even downstairs somehow. I want to find a bedding that doesn't track everywhere.

Second, how much do they absorb? Are they as good as sawdust? Are they better?

How far does a bale go? I have a 2 x 8.5 c&c cage.

Finally, I found a lot of threads where people were recommending fitch, and the prices were a lot lower as it was a few years ago. Does anyone know where I can get them for a decent price?

On the fitch website, it's £22 for a 20kg bale, and Finacard is £15 a maxibale on their website. Especially with the fitch, it's a little pricey.

I've found the price of both too much with the size of cage/hutch and number of pigs I have. I did find a local supplier of cardboard bedding for a while at £5 a bale which was great but then they stopped selling it. I now use a thin layer of large flake woodshavings with loads of hay on top. It's not as messy as I thought it would be as it beds down after a little while but they are all in the garage so not on carpet!
