So this the first c&c cage i've ever built and I'd welcome any pointers. The pink section belongs to my sow (Olive) and the navy blue section belongs to my boar (Treacle). Obviously they must be separated as I don't wish to breed them. There's a good reason I have opposite sex piggies but I won't bother explaining. So I know that in a prefect world the cage would be a little bigger but this is the absolute maximum size I can fit in my bedroom. They both took to the ramps like fish to water which surprised me but I'm glad about. In case it's not clear from the photos, they both have a little 'hay room' upstairs and also a 'kitchen' with a hay rack downstairs. They have little plastic hidies under the ramps and also a playstix tunnel and a bed. The sides of the ramps have fleece covers on but they do enjoy pulling them off again. Thanks in advance for any advice xx :DIMG_9223.webpIMG_3405.webpIMG_5866.webpIMG_7293.webpIMG_4840.webp

It is a little on the small side, and doesn't allow much room for zoomies with their hides in etc. But it looks good. Would you be able to do an L shape and expand each side that way? And, have you considered neutering your boy so they can live together?

I can see you've put a lot of effort in there making it nice for them, but unfortunately that is just too small, its about 5 sqft of floor space each and actually having the ranps removes even a bit of that. As @Siikibam says, couldnt you add them each another 1x2 extension on the front, or go L-shaped?
Or get your boy neutered so they can share the whole space? That space might work just for long enough to get the boy neutered and do his 6 week post op wait but even then its a bit small even as a temporary cage... clearly you love your piggies a lot and have put a lot of effort in here, but if you check out our cage size guide or even the RSPCA minimum cage size requirements you will see that they need more space x

ok, thank you, I'll see what I can do about extending the cage. As for getting Treacle neutered, I did discuss it with my vet a while ago and she said that seeing as he is already four years old, the operation would be risky x

It might be worth looking further afield for a more experienced guinea pig vet.
Spaying sows is a far bigger operation, but a healthy boy of any age is at minimal risk with a good vet and follow up care.
You are clearly a devoted owner and could easily offer the aftercare so I would consider it. They would have an amazing cage if you could keep them together!
