It was colder last night so I put in Smudge and Truffles snugglesafes (for anyone that doesn't know what they are, they are microwaveable heat pads with a fleecy cover which hold heat all night) in their outdoor hutch.

I heated them, put them under the hay and left them. This disturbed them both at first but when I peeked an hour later I was SO amused to see Smudge with her belly pressed down on one of them and her little arms and legs stuck out at angles, she looked sooo sweet!

Couldn't see Truffle's exact position as she's a darker colour but they did like them!

And they were half the price on the internet of my local petshop so a fab investment for my old guineas (they're 5 now).

Just had to share xx>>>

Do you know, I find the Hottie pads a lot better for my piggies. It is flatter, softer and bigger..I thought the Snugglepads were a bit hard and small! There is probably more danger it could be chewed but not if you wrap it up in fleece or a pillowcase. I bought two Hottie microwaveable pads - special offer, 2 for £20. One for my old lady cat and one for the guineas, should they need it, although they are all indoors in the C & C cage during the winter. Ideal for chilly autumn evenings when they are in the outdoor hutch still.

Ooh, I love a bargain :)) Do they stay as warm and do you have a link or site to order from ?

Sorry, just realised it was 2 for £22 and I got them from Amazing Health.co.uk
Yes, they are still warm in the morning, you just need to heat them up for 2 mins in the microwave, according to the instructions.

I paid £20+ each for my first pads then used the Vetuk site for three more when the piggy clan expanded and they were just under £13 each.

My girls are inside and we haven't been having the heating on due to the boiler not working. It is being replaced today but we still probably won't have it on that much. Is it ok to let the girls have the snugglesafe from now on? it seems pretty cold today.

Silly question but will indoor piggies need these over winter?

Sarah x

I bought my piggies the pads because being a new slave, thought they were a must for them to have along with the £100's I've spent on stuff they don't mallethead Admittedly, most indoor piggies wouldn't need them but they are there if the room feels a bit chilly and when I'm out at work and know I'm going to be working late. Also great if you have a poorly piggy to keep snug. My lot are all on vetbed but they still have the pads...just me so it's your personal choice really :)
