We have been slowly getting our hooligans ready for their first lawn time, and keeping our fingers crossed for nice weather.
And today was the day
DH and I practically divorced over how to set up the (possibly slightly oversized) outdoor run I bought (what can I say - I am rubbish at being able to interpret measurements on a box into real life sizes).
But we eventually set it up, filled it with various boxes, tunnels, and hideys and went to bring the pigs outside.
I was poised with the camera, the kids were poised with treats, and DH was off muttering about guinea pig runs that are bigger than our bedroom.
We popped them into the run and they all ran into one of the wooden houses.
So we waited.
And waited.
And waited some more.
Then DH went inside to make a coffee, and the kids went out on the street to ride bikes with their friends.
But I waited some more, because I wanted to capture that first glorious moment of freedom.
And the hooligans waited inside their tiny wooden house for us to take them back inside.
So after 30 minutes I took them back inside, and popped them into their tiny indoor run.
The indoor run that is half of the size of their outdoor run.
And the little hooligans proceeded to wheek and popcorn and zoom around like the wild hooligans I know they are.
Sigh.
On the plus side I won't need to recharge the camera batteries before our next lawn time adventure....
Today I learnt that you can lead a guinea pig to freedom and fresh grass, but you can't make him popcorn.
