Hey! I recently adopted a young boar, and bought him an inside cage. However I noticed that he wasn't very vocal, so to coax it out of him I played some piggy wheeking noises! He came running out of his bed, and replied! This really pulled at my heartstrings and has got me thinking that I should get him a boar friend!

So, my question is, should I get him a friend, and if so, what size would the cage have to be to fit 2 comfortably? I have limited funds as I spent most of my money on him the first time round!

Any help with this little guy would be really helpful, thanks :)

Yes definitely get him a friend, he will be so grateful :)) I strongly advise that you take him dating. If you take him boar dating he can pick his own boar friend to live with. Or you could get him neutered and date him with some sows so he can pick his very own wifepig :) You will need to find out if rescues near you offer boar and sow dating. Dating is a very good way of matching their personalities to prevent fall outs, especially with boars together as they tend to disagree and fight over dominance issues xx

Ditto on the suggestion to take your boar to a rescue to choose his own friend.

The recommended cage size for two pigs is 10.5 square feet. Bigger is better, especially for boars. Go with the biggest cage you have space for.

See this website for recommended cage size and how to build a big cage.

The price would be based on the supplies you can find in your area. Mostly the cage will be cheaper than a pet store cage.

Guinea pigs are very social animals and need company really. I think your little boar would love to have a friend. Whereabouts are you based? Are you in the UK? If you let us know we may be able to find you a suitable rescue to take your boy to so he can find a friend.

The minimum size for 2 guineas is 120cm, however, with boars the bigger the better to avoid fallouts. C&C cages are brilliant as you can build them to fit into your free space. They are made out of grids, like these [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/INTERLOCKING-SHOE-ORGANIZER-RACK-PAIRS/dp/B0011YAZV8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345881648&sr=8-1"]INTERLOCKING SHOE ORGANIZER/SHOE RACK for 16 PAIRS: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home[/ame] and a correx base (although I just use a waterproof table mat for my base). Feel free to have a search through the members cages in the housing section. There should be a thread there showing some of our cages :)

I hope this helps
