Hi,
We’ve just adopted a pair of 4 month old males. They are in a large outdoor hutch with run (all under shelter) and they have spend all day so far in their little hay bed. We’ve spoke to them but not handled them yet. When should we worry if they don’t come out for food and water? Feel like a nervous new mum again 🙈

Just give them time. Guinea pigs are very skittish animals, especially when you first get them. They will most likely drink and eat when it’s very quiet/dark and when you aren’t there. I don’t think they drink that much water anyway as they get it from their veggies. The key to taming is just lots and lots of patience lol. Good luck :)

Hello and welcome,
Exciting times! They will soon settle down and find their bearings and learn that you are not going to eat them. they are prey animals so everything with two eyes is considered a threat to them at the moment x
