First Attempt At A Cage Liner

So my mom brought me a sewing machine. I' gonna attempt my first cage liner. I will be using shower curtain mattress pad and fleece blanket. Will be doing a outside stitch and another stitch around the perimemeter. Should I do anything else to keep it from bunching or so that he enough
 
I'm not sure I'd use a shower curtain as it won't last so long with all the laundering. I'd just use fleece and mattress pad if I were you.

The best advice I can give to stop it bunching is to tack your material before yo sew.


We used to have some lovely tutorials about how to make fleece liners but, unfortunately the pictures are no longer visible.
 
Yeah I think il go without the shower curtain. Not to sound stupid but new to sewing . What is tacking?

I tend to just stitch two sheets of thick fleece together or fill them with polyester wadding, so that the pee goes through onto puppy pads.

Tacking is when you hand sew ( with big stitches) the material together before you machine sew. It holds the material better than just pinning and it is therefore a better finish.

Good luck with your cage.:) Pricey at first, but 100 percent worth it in the long run.:clap:
