Fiona is visiting the vet....slow weight loss

Fiona has been slowly loosing weight,i cannot see anything obvious.She is 3 years of age.ive been syringing top up feeds to maintain her weight.she has had mild bloat.i left her 24 hours to see if she is maintaining her wight herself,she had dropped 40 grams.so I'm cotinuing support feed.Fiona is going to the guinea pig vet tomorrow afternoon,as I'm really not sure what is causing her to loose weight.She seems well in herself.i hope she has a diagnosis tomorrow.

Sorry to hear this about Fiona.
Mystery weight loss is very frustrating.
Hope the vet trip gives some answers

Fiona is back from the vet,
She has mild bloat,gritty urine,and blood in urine.
The treatment plan is,
sulfatrim,cisapride,loxicom.
Then review in 12 days time.
Just one question ,is it beneficial to filter the water ?if has gritty urine.Fiona is already on grainless pellets.

I hope Fiona gets well soon. Yes I would filter the water, it might help and it certainly won't do any harm. After a succession of bladder pigs (one way and another!) I filter the water for them all now.

Thanks for all your support,it is hard when they are poorly.I'm pleased i got answers,and we have a way forward.I'm just going to tweak the diet to be geared to bladder problem diet.

This is Fiona.we are still syringe feeding.its early days,but she is fighting the syringe !

Fiona seems to be improving,seen her eat pellets and hay.veggies as well.no syringe feed today.will weight later tonight to see if she has maintained her weight over 24 hours.

Fiona had lost 20 grams in 24 hours ,so one 20.l syringe feed given .see how she goes.much better than 60mls daily!

When you feel in a low mood how lovely is it to cuddle a guinea pig.i. m so lucky to have some very tame guinea pigs.They give me so much joy.
