My guinea pig of 5.5 years just died suddenly today. He was showing signs of ageing and wasn't as quick anymore. I just feel like his heart gave away. I was shook when my mom called me at work saying that he was gone. It was so sudden and unexpected. And I don't know if I am currently coping or just feeling numb, but it comes in waves. I am in shock because of the whole sudden thing. Having said that, I could not be more grateful that he had a peaceful end. He was eating and doing his routine things. My mom said that he was eating 30 mins before they checked on him again found him gone. Is it normal for this to happen at his age? I just want to know if any of you have had similar experiences. Thank you so much. Please pray for my dear Pichu. I love him and he will always be my beautiful brave baby.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I know a sudden death is very shocking for us but it’s the kindest way for a piggy to go. It sounds as though his heart may have given out. But he died in his home surroundings shortly after munching away so he wasn’t distressed. Go gently as you grieve his passing. Sleep tight Pichu

I’m so sorry you have lost Pichu so suddenly. Such a shock for you but thankfully no suffering for him. Also passing in his usual surroundings is a lovely peaceful way to go. Sending you a hug 🤗

It can be a strange feeling. When my Pepper died quite quickly and peacefully I was full of gratitude for that but also dealing with the sadness that she was gone. It was almost like a conflict in my head and it took me a while to work it out. But I did, as you will, and eventually you will only think of the happy memories. Take care of yourself, your boy will always be with you 🧡🌈

I am so sorry you lost your little lady so suddenly, it comes as quite a horrible shock. Take heart that Pichu did not suffer, she pass away in her own home surrounded by her family. Take the time to grieve, you are right, it comes in waves of pain and sadness but also a numbness too which I put down to shock :hug:In time the pain turns to happy memories of the ones we’ve lost, in the meantime take care x

Sleep tight little Pichu 🌈
